Fusion
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005858
The phase transition of a substance from a solid to a liquid state, typically occurring at a specific temperature known as the melting point. In atmospheric science, this process is relevant to the melting of ice and snow, contributing to runoff and changes in surface albedo. The latent heat of fusion is absorbed during this transformation.
