Phase
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007885
A distinct state of matter, such as solid, liquid, or gas, characterized by uniform physical properties and chemical composition. Transitions between these states involve the absorption or release of latent heat. Water, for example, exists in solid (ice), liquid (water), and gaseous (water vapor) phases within the Earth's atmosphere.
