Phase change

A transformation of matter from one physical state to another, such as from solid to liquid, liquid to gas, or vice versa. These transitions involve the absorption or release of latent heat, which significantly influences atmospheric energy budgets. Examples include the melting of ice, the evaporation of water, and the condensation of water vapor into clouds.
