Multiple-phase flow
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007457
The simultaneous movement of materials existing in two or more thermodynamic phases, such as gas, liquid, and solid. In the atmosphere, this concept describes clouds, which are mixtures of water vapor, liquid water droplets, and solid ice crystals all moving together within an air parcel. It also applies to phenomena like blowing snow, dust storms, and the process of precipitation falling through the air, where particles and air move concurrently.
