Miscible displacement
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007319
The movement of a fluid through a porous medium or another fluid, where the displacing fluid mixes completely with the displaced fluid at all proportions. This process eliminates the sharp interface that separates immiscible fluids, creating a transition zone of mixed composition. In atmospheric modeling, it describes how one air mass, such as a clean one, replaces a polluted one through mixing and advection, affecting pollutant concentration gradients.
