Miscible displacement

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002388

An enhanced oil recovery process where an injected fluid, such as carbon dioxide or a hydrocarbon gas, achieves miscibility with the reservoir oil. This eliminates interfacial tension between the fluids, allowing the injected solvent to completely sweep and displace the oil from the pore spaces. The process can be first-contact miscible or multiple-contact miscible, depending on the fluid properties and operating conditions.
