Immiscible

Describing two or more fluids that do not mix to form a single homogeneous phase, such as oil and water. In enhanced oil recovery, immiscible displacement involves injecting a fluid that does not dissolve in the reservoir oil. This contrasts with miscible displacement, where the injected fluid and oil form a single phase.
