Multiple-contact miscibility
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002488
A condition where an injected fluid and reservoir oil become miscible after a series of mass transfer contacts as they flow through the porous medium. Unlike first-contact miscibility, the fluids are not miscible upon initial contact but achieve miscibility through the exchange of components. This process is common in gas injection enhanced oil recovery, particularly with CO2 or lean hydrocarbon gases, where intermediate components are extracted from the oil.
