Nitrogen injection
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002542
An enhanced oil recovery method involving the injection of nitrogen gas into a reservoir to displace oil. Nitrogen is an inert, inexpensive gas that can achieve miscibility with reservoir oil at high pressures, reducing interfacial tension and improving sweep efficiency. It is often used in miscible or immiscible gas flooding projects, particularly in reservoirs where CO2 is unavailable or too expensive.
