Nitrogen lifting
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002545
A well intervention technique that involves injecting nitrogen gas into the wellbore to reduce the hydrostatic pressure of the fluid column and initiate or enhance fluid flow to the surface. The expanding nitrogen lightens the fluid column, allowing the reservoir pressure to overcome the reduced hydrostatic head. It is commonly used to unload wells after workovers or stimulation.
