Cuttings lifting
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000935
The process of transporting drilled rock fragments, known as cuttings, from the bottom of the wellbore to the surface by the circulating drilling fluid. Effective cuttings lifting prevents accumulation of solids in the annulus, which can lead to stuck pipe or excessive torque and drag. The efficiency of this process depends on fluid properties such as viscosity and density, as well as annular velocity.
