Cuttings

Small pieces of rock generated by the drill bit as it penetrates the formation, carried to the surface by the drilling fluid. These samples are collected and analyzed by geologists to determine the lithology, mineralogy, and hydrocarbon shows of the drilled formations. Cuttings provide real-time geological information.
