Sand lifting
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003245
The process of using fluid circulation to remove sand or other solid particles from the bottom of a wellbore. A high-velocity fluid, often nitrogen or a specialized liquid, is pumped down a tubing string to agitate the solids and carry them in suspension up the annulus to the surface. This technique is a common cleanout method for wells that have experienced sand production from the reservoir or have fill remaining from a hydraulic fracturing treatment.
