Gas injection
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001624
An enhanced oil recovery (EOR) method that involves injecting natural gas, carbon dioxide, or nitrogen into a reservoir to maintain pressure or to displace oil. The injected gas either expands to push oil or mixes with the oil to reduce its viscosity, improving its mobility. This technique is used to increase oil recovery beyond what is achievable by primary or secondary methods.
