Chemical injection
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004262
The process of introducing specific chemical solutions into a reservoir to alter fluid properties or rock-fluid interactions, thereby improving oil recovery. This method includes injecting polymers to increase water viscosity, surfactants to reduce interfacial tension, or alkaline agents to react with acidic crude oil. Chemical injection is a key component of enhanced oil recovery (EOR) operations.
