Microbial enhanced oil recovery

An enhanced oil recovery technique that involves introducing microorganisms or their metabolic products into a reservoir to improve oil recovery. These microbes can produce gases, acids, solvents, or surfactants that alter reservoir properties or oil characteristics. MEOR applications can include injecting nutrient solutions to stimulate indigenous microbial populations or introducing specific microbial strains.
