Biocide

A chemical substance added to drilling fluids to control and eliminate the growth of bacteria, fungi, and other microorganisms. These microbes can degrade fluid components, cause corrosion, and produce undesirable gases like hydrogen sulfide. Common biocides include glutaraldehyde, quaternary ammonium compounds, and isothiazolinones, selected based on fluid type and environmental regulations.
