Slime-forming bacteria

Microorganisms that produce extracellular polymeric substances, forming a sticky matrix known as biofilm or slime. In oilfield operations, these bacteria can cause plugging of injection wells, corrosion under deposits, and souring of produced fluids. Biocides are often used to control their growth and mitigate their detrimental effects.
