Film-forming amine
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001396
A chemical additive used in drilling fluids to create a protective barrier on metal surfaces, mitigating corrosion. These amines adsorb onto the steel, forming a thin, hydrophobic film that isolates the metal from corrosive agents in the drilling fluid. They are particularly effective in systems containing hydrogen sulfide or carbon dioxide.
