Quat amine
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003020
A type of quaternary ammonium compound used in drilling fluids, primarily as a shale inhibitor or clay stabilizer. These cationic surfactants adsorb onto negatively charged clay surfaces, preventing hydration and dispersion of reactive shales. They are effective in minimizing borehole instability and reducing cuttings disintegration.
