Polyalkalene glycol
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004417
A synthetic polymer used as a shale inhibitor and lubricant in water-based drilling fluids. It functions by encapsulating shale particles, preventing their hydration and dispersion, and by reducing friction between drilling components. Polyalkalene glycols are effective in minimizing bit balling and maintaining wellbore stability in reactive shale formations.
