Polyalphaolefin

A synthetic hydrocarbon fluid used as a base oil in non-aqueous drilling fluids, particularly in synthetic-based muds. Polyalphaolefins offer excellent thermal stability, low toxicity, and good lubricity, making them suitable for challenging drilling environments. They are designed to be environmentally friendly alternatives to diesel or mineral oils.
