Synthetic-base fluid
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003740
A drilling fluid in which the continuous phase is a synthetic hydrocarbon, such as an olefin or paraffin, rather than diesel or mineral oil. These fluids are designed to offer performance advantages over water-based muds and reduced environmental impact compared to oil-based muds. They are often used in challenging drilling environments.
