Olefinic hydrocarbon

An organic compound containing at least one carbon-carbon double bond, belonging to the alkene family. Certain synthetic olefinic hydrocarbons are used as base oils in drilling fluids, offering good environmental performance and thermal stability. They are often preferred over diesel or mineral oils due to lower toxicity.
