Diesel-oil mud
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001066
A type of oil-based drilling fluid where diesel fuel serves as the continuous phase, with emulsified water droplets dispersed within it. This mud system provides excellent lubricity, shale inhibition, and thermal stability for drilling deep, hot, or reactive formations. Environmental regulations often restrict the use of diesel-oil muds due to the toxicity of diesel components, favoring less toxic mineral oil-based systems.
