Polyanionic cellulose
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002848
A water-soluble polymer derived from cellulose, used as a drilling fluid additive for fluid loss control and viscosity modification. It forms a thin, low-permeability filter cake on the wellbore wall, reducing the invasion of drilling fluid into the formation. Polyanionic cellulose (PAC) is available in different grades, such as PAC-HV for high viscosity and PAC-LV for low viscosity applications.
