Starch

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003588

A natural polymer derived from plants, commonly used as a fluid loss control additive in water-based drilling fluids. It forms a thin, low-permeability filter cake on the wellbore wall, reducing the invasion of filtrate into the formation. Starch is biodegradable and effective in controlling fluid loss at moderate temperatures.
