Hydroxyethyl starch
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001925
A modified natural polymer used as a fluid-loss control agent in certain water-based drilling and completion fluids. Derived from starch, it is chemically treated to resist bacterial degradation and perform effectively at higher temperatures than untreated starch. This additive is particularly effective in brines and saturated salt systems where other polymers may not be as soluble or stable.
