Hydroxypropyl starch
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001927
A modified starch polymer used as a viscosifier and fluid loss control agent in water-based drilling fluids. It is derived from natural starch through chemical modification, which enhances its thermal stability and resistance to bacterial degradation. This additive maintains rheological properties and reduces filtration rates in drilling muds, particularly in high-temperature environments.
