DEA unit

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000963

A diethanolamine (DEA) unit is a gas processing facility that removes acid gases, primarily hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and carbon dioxide (CO2), from natural gas streams. It uses an aqueous solution of DEA to chemically absorb these contaminants, producing a sweetened gas stream and a rich amine solution. The rich amine is then regenerated by heating to release the acid gases, which are often sent to a sulfur recovery unit.
