Desulfurize

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001031

To remove sulfur compounds, such as hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and mercaptans, from crude oil, natural gas, or refined products. This process reduces the corrosivity of the hydrocarbons and prevents the release of sulfur dioxide (SO2) during combustion, which is an environmental pollutant. Amine treating units and hydrodesulfurization are common methods for sulfur removal.
