DD
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000962
A drilling detergent added to a drilling fluid to reduce surface tension and counteract the sticking tendencies of hydratable clays. These surfactants prevent cuttings from agglomerating on the bit, stabilizers, and bottom-hole assembly, a condition known as bit balling. DD products are formulated to be effective in a range of water-based mud systems, including those with high salinity and hardness.
