Dilution water
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001092
Water added to a water-based drilling fluid to reduce its density, viscosity, or solids content. This is a primary method for controlling mud properties as drilled solids accumulate in the system. The quality of dilution water, such as its salinity and hardness, can significantly affect mud performance.
