Dim spot
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001093
A localized decrease in the amplitude of a seismic reflection, which can indicate the presence of hydrocarbons in a reservoir. This amplitude anomaly occurs due to changes in acoustic impedance caused by gas or oil replacing water in the pore spaces. Dim spots are a direct hydrocarbon indicator (DHI) used in seismic interpretation.
