Amplitude anomaly
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000109
An unusually strong or weak seismic reflection amplitude that deviates from the expected background response. These anomalies can indicate the presence of hydrocarbons, gas, or other subsurface features that alter the acoustic impedance of the rock. A common example is a 'bright spot,' which suggests gas accumulation.
