Anomaly
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000139
A deviation from the expected or average value of a geological or geophysical parameter, which may indicate a subsurface feature of interest. For example, a gravity anomaly can suggest variations in rock density, while a magnetic anomaly might point to magnetic mineral concentrations. Identifying anomalies is a key step in exploration.
