Magnetics

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002262

A geophysical exploration method that measures variations in the Earth's magnetic field to infer subsurface geology. These variations are caused by differences in the magnetic susceptibility of rocks. Magnetic surveys are used to map basement structures, identify igneous intrusions, and delineate faults, providing insights into the geological framework of a region.
