Magnetic-flux leakage
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002261
A non-destructive testing technique used in production logging to detect defects in ferromagnetic materials like casing or tubing. A magnetic field is applied to the pipe, and sensors detect variations in the magnetic flux that 'leaks' out at points of corrosion, pitting, or cracks. This method provides an assessment of pipe integrity.
