Magnetic permeability
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002256
A measure of a material's ability to support the formation of a magnetic field within itself. It describes how easily magnetic lines of force can pass through a substance. In geophysical exploration, variations in magnetic permeability within subsurface rocks, often due to the presence of magnetic minerals like magnetite, create anomalies that are detected by magnetometers.
