Flux leakage
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001520
The escape of magnetic flux lines from a ferromagnetic material, such as a casing or tubing, when a magnetic field is applied. This phenomenon is exploited in magnetic inspection tools to detect anomalies like corrosion, cracks, or wall thickness variations. The leakage flux is measured by sensors to create a profile of the pipe's integrity.
