Fluvial
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001519
Relating to the geologic processes and landforms associated with rivers and streams. Fluvial systems erode, transport, and deposit sediment, creating characteristic depositional environments such as river channels, point bars, floodplains, and deltas. The resulting sedimentary deposits, known as alluvium, are a major target for hydrocarbon exploration due to the potential for porous and permeable channel sands to form reservoirs.
