Channel

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000632

A geological feature representing the path of an ancient river or submarine current, characterized by distinct sedimentary deposits. These features are often preserved within sedimentary basins and can form excellent hydrocarbon reservoirs due to their coarser-grained, permeable sands. Channel sands are identified through seismic data and well logs, providing targets for exploration and production.
