Channel wave
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000633
A seismic wave that propagates within a low-velocity layer, guided by the boundaries of that layer. These waves are often observed in coal seams or other distinct stratigraphic units, where they can travel long distances with relatively little attenuation. Channel waves are used in tomographic imaging to map the properties of the guiding layer.
