Channeling

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000634

The undesirable flow of fluids, such as cement or drilling mud, through preferential pathways or voids behind casing rather than uniformly filling the annular space. This can lead to poor zonal isolation, allowing unwanted fluid migration between different formations. Channeling is often detected by cement bond logs.
