Cement evaluation log

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000611

An acoustic well log run after a casing cementing job to assess the quality of the cement sheath in the annulus between the casing and the formation. The tool emits an acoustic signal and measures the amplitude and travel time of the returning echoes to determine the bond between the casing and the cement, and between the cement and the formation. Poor bonding, indicated by high-amplitude signals, signifies potential pathways for fluid migration, which compromises zonal isolation.
