Cement extender
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000612
A material added to cement slurry to increase its volume while maintaining or improving its performance characteristics. Extenders reduce the overall density of the cement, which is beneficial in formations with low fracture gradients, and can also lower material costs. Common extenders include bentonite, pozzolans, and gilsonite, which are mixed in specific proportions.
