Mixed-metal silicate
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002396
A synthetic mixed-metal silicate viscosifier added to bentonite water muds to raise yield and build a strong gel with high low-shear viscosity. The gel suspends cuttings and weighting material, which suits drilling of unconsolidated, fractured and highly deviated sections. The material extends bentonite rather than replacing it.
