Annular gas flow
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000130
The uncontrolled movement of gas up the annular space between casing strings or between the casing and the wellbore wall. This flow can occur after cementing operations if the cement does not provide an adequate seal, or due to pressure differentials in the formation. It poses a safety hazard and can lead to sustained casing pressure or surface gas leaks.
