Cementing
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000621
The process of pumping a cement slurry down a wellbore and into the annular space between the casing and the formation or between two strings of casing. Once set, the hardened cement provides structural support for the casing and creates a hydraulic seal, preventing fluid movement between different geological zones. Primary cementing occurs after running a new casing string, while remedial cementing fixes issues in existing wells.
