Annular space

The space between two concentric pipes or between a pipe and the wall of a wellbore. This void is often filled with drilling fluid, cement, or completion fluids, and it serves as a conduit for fluid circulation, pressure monitoring, or the placement of downhole tools. The dimensions of the annulus are determined by the outer diameter of the inner pipe and the inner diameter of the outer pipe or wellbore.
